We currently have an excellent opportunity for a Controller to join our team in Brunswick, Ohio. This is an on-site position initially with the potential to be a hybrid role.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities include:
- Handles high-level accounting tasks and ensures compliance with financial regulations.
- Oversee the preparation of the annual budget and daily budget monitoring activities.
- Coordinate audit by external auditors and preparation of annual financial statements. Manage the monthly accounting close and month-end account reconciliations.
- ·Oversee insurance renewals and related inquiries and tasks.
- Manage receivables and payables with the ability to address complex billing and payment issues.
- Coordinate and manage payroll reporting for various purposes, including ESOP contributions.
- Maintain and update the work in process (WIP) sheet and other project-related financial documentation.
- Serve as a point of contact for financial systems, addressing queries and managing accounts.
- Exercise judgment to challenge and verify financial documents and decisions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate closely with team members to streamline accounting processes and reduce workload.
- Provide guidance and support for financial inquiries from staff, offering solutions and directing to appropriate resources.
- Performs other duties or special projects as required or assigned.
Education, Skills and Work Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
- CPA
- 6-8 years of accounting/finance experience.
- Strong accounting background with experience in handling a wide range of financial tasks.
- Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
- Experience in analyzing and interpreting financial data.
- Accuracy in working with large amounts of data.
- Proficient in QuickBooks, Divvy, and other relevant financial software.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Proven management ability. Must be able to make decisions independently.
- Strong collaborating skills, and an ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy, self-motivated and proactive.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask and be flexible regarding workload and assignments.
- Ability to exercise judgment.
