job summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer, Product Technology, for our location in Maple Grove, MN. This role resides within our Product Technology group, operating in a highly secure environment (SOC2, ISO27001) to deliver platforms and services that enable connected products (IoT) and support our business partners, customers, and clinicians. You will lead the design of our overall Product Technology environment and collaborate closely with business partners to architect infrastructure for product and customer-facing applications.

responsibilities:

• Develop core design principles for our hybrid environment (On-Prem and Azure), adhering to stringent product security and quality standards.
• Provide expert technical consulting on infrastructure design for business partner applications and shared core services.
• Create comprehensive documentation for business and internal partners, detailing design specifications, network infrastructure, security guidelines, and more.
• Collaborate with business partners on new application hosting proposals within the Product Technology environment.
• Lead and participate in Architecture Review Board meetings, presenting design patterns and providing constructive feedback.
• Develop functional requirements for supported business offerings.
• Provide technical oversight and business consultations during project intake and design, in collaboration with Business Relationship Managers and Project Managers.
• Conduct limited-scope Proof of Concepts (PoCs) to evaluate new infrastructure and Platform as a Service (PaaS) components.
• Develop infrastructure blueprints for secure and robust implementation guidelines.
• Collaborate with DevSecOps teams to share application design and implementation details.
• Propose and implement new designs that align with architectural principles, obtaining necessary approvals.
• Implement security and compliance guardrails/controls on new PoCs and designs.
• Partner with Site Reliability Engineers (SREs), Project Managers (PMs), and other relevant teams.
• Ensure compliance with SOCII, ISO27001, and other applicable attestations.

qualifications:

• Passion for IT, infrastructure, and architecture.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, networking, or a related IT field with 10 years of experience, or 13 years of equivalent IT experience.
• 5 years of architect/principal engineer experience with multiple relevant technologies.
• 4 years of Azure experience preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Professional IT certifications (a plus).
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
• Reliable and consistent attendance.
