What are the responsibilities and job description for the College Navigator position at Rappahannock Community College?
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Basic knowledge and/or experience in the following areas:
- Effective problem-solving skills
- Working with individuals from underserved populations
- Data systems, operations and linkages
- Microsoft Office and social media
- Ability to occasionally travel between campuses.
- Ability to occasionally work evenings and weekends.
- College Navigators must be willing to complete the Virginia Career Coach Certification Program after employment.
- Skills in supporting all student populations and navigating the comprehensive higher education experience.
- Basic understanding of credit and non-credit program processes, policies, rules, and regulations.
- Work experience in higher education, academic/career coaching, or academic advising.
- Knowledge of best practices in academic advising, student development and student learning outcomes.
- Knowledge and commitment to the “one-door” philosophy of supporting both credit and workforce students to ensure a consistent student experience across the college.
- Experience in advising students in the community college setting.
- Knowledge of usage of data and analytics to identify patterns and trends in student performance.
