What are the responsibilities and job description for the Billing Supervisor position at Ravenwood Health?

The Billing Supervisor is responsible for providing supervision and support to all Billing Department personnel to ensure all client and claim information is accurately entered for each Ravenwood Health client to collect payment for every service provided from the correct payer(s) in a timely manner. The supervisor works closely with Ravenwood Health team members to maintain billing standards and ensures that a professional and courteous atmosphere is maintained with all clients and Ravenwood personnel.
Billing Supervisor Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the day-to-day activities of the billing department to ensure that all billing is being done accurately and on a timely basis
- Review monthly reports, including but not limited to aging, out of county, and filing
- Monitor outstanding self-pay balances and send to collections as needed
- Complete error reports and assigns to billing staff as needed
- Implement efficiency plans and department procedures to provide and maintain accuracy
- Provide goals and planning for updating and improving the billing department
- Provide management with updates on failed activities and claims
- Assistant clinical staff with billing issues as needed
- Ensure the billing module in the agency’s EHR is up to date
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Thorough understanding of medical billing (Medicaid, Medicare, Private Insurance, etc.), regulations, collections, payment posting, and revenue cycle
- Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes, as well as diagnosis coding
- The ability to solve problems and project solutions based on short and long range planning
- The ability to supervise a team of hybrid billing specialist
- The ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and compute calculations and percentages
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize effectively and work independently
Education and Experience:
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel including formulas and tables
- Associate or Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 3 years of experience in medical billing/coding. In lieu of a degree, 5 years of progressive medical billing/coding experience will be considered.
- Experience supervising a team and leading initiatives is preferred
- Previous experience with CareLogic by Qualifacts is preferred
- Certified coder is preferred.
