Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and accurate job estimates by analyzing blueprints, specifications, and bid documents.
- Calculate quantities of labor, materials, and equipment using estimating software and manual methods.
- Source and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotes to ensure competitive pricing.
- Build and maintain strong supplier and vendor relationships to stay informed of market trends and pricing.
- Collaborate with project management and engineering departments to address project-specific questions and requirements.
- Support the preconstruction phase and ensure estimates align with budgetary goals.
- Perform other related duties as required by the role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- Minimum 7 years of estimating experience in heavy civil construction or highway infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of takeoffs and scope development for civil construction and roadway projects.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines while maintaining high standards of accuracy.
- Strong leadership and communication skills; able to collaborate cross-functionally.
- Experience with HCSS-Heavy Bid software.
- Familiarity with cost analysis, vendor negotiations, and bid strategy development.
