Overview:
The Assistant Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing and optimizing the company’s operations to ensure efficiency, productivity, and smooth functioning of day-to-day business activities. They will manage various operational activities on the profit and not-for-profit sides of the business. They will coordinate cross-functional activities, and contribute to strategic planning to meet organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities: For profit
- Ensure the smooth operation of daily activities across various departments (e.g., construction development, logistics, customer service).
- Foster a culture of collaboration and high performance within the operations team, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
- Foster a culture of safety, productivity, and accountability on job sites.
- Oversee procurement of materials and ensure timely delivery to project sites.
- Monitor project progress and resolve any issues related to delays, materials, or manpower.
- Ensure clear communication between field teams, project managers, subcontractors, and vendors.
- Provide regular project updates and reports to senior leadership and clients, ensuring transparency and managing expectations.
- Participate in pre-project job site visits.
Key Responsibilities: Non-profit
- Communicate and present program essentials with existing and potential students.
- Participate in fundraising activities
- Coordinate meetings with potential non-profit partners.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field. PMP certification is a plus.
Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of construction methods, materials, and equipment.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Ability to read and understand construction plans and blueprints.
- Proficient in project management software (e.g., Procore, Buildertrend, or similar).
- Strong budget management and cost control skills.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and building codes.
Working Conditions:
- Full-time position, typically based on-site during active projects.
- Occasional travel to various construction sites may be required.
- May require working in outdoor conditions, including inclement weather, and occasional evening or weekend hours depending on project needs.
