How you make a difference
The Cook is at the heart of the facility kitchen, preparing nutritious and delicious meals for both individuals served and staff. In this role, you’ll ensure that food is always fresh, safe to eat, and meets dietary needs. You’ll manage inventory by rotating food stores, maintain a clean and sanitized workspace, and collaborate closely with the Food Service Director/Manager to ensure everything runs smoothly. Your passion for food and attention to detail will make a lasting impact on the wellbeing of those you serve!
Key Responsibilities
Menu Preparation: Follow the established menu schedule and prepare menu items according to appropriate food recipes.
Kitchen Equipment Maintenance: Clean kitchen equipment and follow the weekly cleaning schedule, ensuring all equipment is in proper working order. Report any repair needs to the Food Service Manager/Director.
Food Safety: Ensure food is stored at proper temperatures, prevent cross-contamination, and maintain a safe environment for both individuals served and staff.
Sanitation Practices: Follow proper sanitation practices, including daily cleaning, proper storage, and completing temperature sheets. Ensure adherence to the clean-as-you-go practice during kitchen inspections.
Inventory and Recordkeeping: Stock and rotate supplies, ensure the kitchen has necessary items for the daily menu, and complete production records and temperature logs for each meal, meeting dietary requirements and health standards.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education:
- Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- Required: One (1) year cooking experience.
Certifications:
- Required: Must obtain ServSafe Certification within three (3) months of employment.
