Position Summary:
The Controller is responsible for all general and cost accounting activities. Prepares and reports the results of operations. Ensures completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of accounting records. Also ensures accounting systems are in control and takes necessary steps to minimize risk to the organization.
Accountabilities
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, ensuring monthly reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.
Ensure adherence to all company financial reporting standards, tax requirements, and industry local regulations.
Maintain the integrity of the standard costing system and ensure all product costs are accurately calculated and updated.
Oversee inventory valuation and ensure inventory counts are accurate, timely, and aligned with financial records.
Develop, implement, and monitor internal financial controls to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
Complete month-end closing process, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and reconciled
Conduct monthly physical inventory in coordination with production staff. Support staff in investigation of large variances.
Ensure daily resin tracking is maintained along with weekly new scrap tracking and tracking of all non-“virgin” HDPE.
Monitor, track, and analyze variances in direct labor, materials, and overhead costs against standard costs, and identify areas for improvement.
Work closely with operations to understand and investigate cost drivers and implement strategies to improve cost control and efficiency.
Provide financial analysis on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as cost variances, production costs, overhead expenses, and profitability.
Lead the annual budget preparation process for the site, working closely with the plant management team to develop realistic and achievable financial targets.
Coordinate with external auditors during the annual audit process to provide necessary documentation and resolve any audit issues.
Maintain Capex Tracking for Open and New projects ensuring proper treatment of costs to proper projects
Maintain Fixed Asset Subledger moving Construction in Process Items into service as they are completed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required; CPA preferred
5-10 years of progressive accounting experience with at least 2 years as Assistant Controller or equivalent. Public accounting experience a plus
Manufacturing Experience with exposure to Cost Accounting, Standard Costing a plus
2-5 Years of Experience working with an ERP system in a Manufacturing Environment
Strong budgeting, financial forecasting, cost accounting and financial analysis skills required
Ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively in all business correspondence including verbal and written
