Red Canyon Software is looking for an Engineering Documentation Specialist to support the design, development, testing, and deployment of NASA Goddard Space Flight Center’s (GSFC) next generation satellite laser ranging system, the Space Geodesy Satellite Laser Ranging (SGSLR) system.
\n- Work alongside engineers to research, organize, write and edit engineering procedural, operations & maintenance documents for existing and future systems. Create new and update any legacy documents already developed
- Use historical engineering documentation, data, and direction from engineers to create, write, revise, standardize, edit, review, and finalize documents. Prepare draft material for internal review by subject matter experts and final review by customer.
- Ensures technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and government specifications and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format and style. May participate in the establishment of style guidelines and standards for texts and illustrations.
- Works autonomously, receives minimal guidance. Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
- Should exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements
- Travel may be required to support projects; this may involve airline travel
- Bachelor’s degree in an applicable technical field or equivalent related experience. Specific contract requirements regarding education and experience will prevail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- 5 years of engineering related technical writing/editing experience
- Ability to read & edit engineering drawings, blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics
- Must be flexible and have the ability to adapt to new information and programs
- Previous experience researching, reviewing and understanding technical information as well as developing procedural information for technical documentation
- Working knowledge and experience with space, engineering support, or Aerospace related projects
- Proficient in Microsoft office suite, Visio & Adobe Acrobat Pro
- US citizen and be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC)
- Applicant selected must be able to obtain a passport for potential international travel
- Applicant must disclose any countries for which they are restricted from travel
- CAD products, including but not limited to AutoCad & SolidWorks
- Previous experience with video training and capturing images with a camera, photo manipulation
- Experience working with NASA technical documents related to technical manual development, delivery, and integrated logistics support
