Description
Join our team of dedicated daycare professionals who work together to create an atmosphere of learning and fun at recess, lunch and during after school daycare for an amazing group of K-8 students. If you like children and are interested in helping them have fun, learn personal responsibility and grow in a safe and fun environment we would love to meet you and tell you more about working on the Support Staff team of Red Hill Lutheran School.
Schedule is: 3-5 days per week at 9:30am to 1:30pm
This position has opportunities for advancement for qualified candidates.
Spiritual:
Affirms that, as part of the qualifications for this position, he/she is a Christian who knows the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior. (John 3:3, 1 Peter 1:23). Reads and signs the Ministry Commitment and Staff Handbook, pages 91-98.
Knowledge of:
Children’s behavior and characteristics; acceptable methods used in maintaining students in lunch/recess situations. Activities planning. Basic concepts of child growth and development, and developmental behavior characteristics; student behavior management strategies and techniques; basic subjects including arithmetic, grammar, spelling, and reading; any subject area required for specific position.
Ability to:
Learn and enforce school rules and safety regulations; recognize and report danger to students or school property; deal firmly, tactfully, respectfully and effectively with students; interact with parents in a positive manner; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; work cooperatively with others; appreciate human diversity; project voice and communicate effectively with others; move rapidly and freely about the entire campus throughout the work shift; stand and monitor children on the playground for one to two hours, assist injured students.
Demonstrate an understanding, patient, and receptive attitude toward students of varied age groups; utilize a variety of instructional materials and procedures to enhance a positive educational environment; perform routine clerical tasks and operate a variety of educational and office related machines and equipment.
Demonstrate good interpersonal skills; conduct and/or coordinate activities; work collaboratively with both internal and external organizations; establish and maintain effective organization, community, and public relationships; comply with the school’s customer services standards.

Monday - Friday; 9:30am to 1:30pm
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Environment: Work is performed while patrolling and monitoring campus, mostly outdoors.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to stand and/or walk on a campus in various weather conditions; to climb stairs; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. Functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a classroom setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
Able to lift 30 lbs.
Qualifications
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Enforces school rules and safety regulations throughout the day.
- Enforces school policies required due to Covid-19
- Supervises playground activities of students during recess.
- Enforces school procedures related to eating areas, including opening containers, cleaning lunch tables, helping hands, trash disposal, and the like.
- Monitors the playground and reports unsafe conditions.
- Uses positive reinforcement strategies and other appropriate techniques to assist students in the development of appropriate behavior and an appreciation of human diversity.
- Assist with after school snack.
- Maintain the Day Care room and equipment.
- Patrols student restrooms to control over-crowding.
- Ensures that no unauthorized persons are on the school grounds during lunch recess and that students do not leave the grounds during that time without permission.
- Uses good judgment regarding appropriate action to assist an injured or ill student.
- May administer minor first aid and fill out ouch and accident reports.
- Assists instructional personnel with the presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises.
- Monitors and assists students in a variety of instructional activities as a follow-up to the presentation of instructional concepts by instructional personnel.
- Assists in the preparation of a variety of instructional materials and learning aids for use with individual or small groups of students.
- Maintains a variety of records and files, including confidential student records and information.
- May perform routine clerical tasks such as typing, computer operation, filing, and photocopying.
- Operates and assists students in the operation of a variety of instructional technology.
- May administer and score a variety of tests and record results.
- Assists in maintaining an orderly, attractive, and positive learning environment.
