What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Accounts Receivable position at RED ROCK BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES?
SUMMARY
A Director of Accounts Receivable oversees all aspects of the accounts receivable function, including managing invoices, collections, and cash flow. This position will implement strategies to improve cash flow, reduce bad debt, and optimize the collection process while ensuring accuracy and integrity of accounting records and compliance with all applicable guidelines.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Managing AR team: Leading and managing the billing and business office teams to meet programmatic goals and objectives. This includes hiring, evaluating and developing staff. Establish regularly scheduled team meetings to discuss strategies and the direction of the department. Monitors daily productivity measures.
- Overseeing accounts receivable cycle: Ensure that all service contracts, insurance carriers, MCOs, etc. are billed appropriately for reimbursement and distribute billings as required. Managing the cash receipts process to ensure all payments are properly applied in a timely manner and assist in maintaining funding sources and guarantor setup
- Reporting and Analysis: Generate reports on key accounts receivable metrics such as collection rates, bad debt, and aging analysis. Analyze receivable trends, report on performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Assist with month-end close. Activities including accounts receivable journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting
- Process improvements: Working and strategizing with other managers to maximize collection and recommending ways to improve processes
- Audit: Works with external auditors to ensure accurate information is provided and facilitates the information flow to the auditors to prepare and complete the Single Audit A-133
- Compliance: Ensures compliance with relevant federal, state, and payor-specific billing requirements while maintaining accurate financial records and assisting in implementing financial procedure changes.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a closely related field required, MBA preferred
- Three years of related experience
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable engaging with senior management
- Willingness to stay aware of changes in healthcare laws and regulations.
- Basic computer literacy: to access and manage online application systems
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Basic understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and accounting software
