What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator - Construction Projects (Commercial) position at REDCOM?
This is an In-Office position, not hybrid or remote
REDCOM Design & Construction LLC is a Construction Management firm that is seeking a full time Project Estimator to join our team. This role combines a unique skillset of communication, critical thinking, and construction knowledge to achieve successful bidding, budgeting, and pre-construction responsibilities. This person will be working with our Estimating department and will be working very closely with Sales, Architects, Engineers, and Project Management teams.
Responsibilities include:
Estimate new projects including:
- Understand a project’s scope and deliverables
- Create Requests for Proposals (RFP’s)
- Perform quantity takeoffs and assign internal costs
- Data-driven and unit price knowledgeable
- Qualify and level subcontractor and vendor proposals
- In-depth analysis and negotiations with subcontractors and vendors
- Write technical proposals and present them to clients with Sales team
- Collaborate with the Project Management team in active project purchasing for jobs awarded·
- Develop working relationships with subcontractors, consultants, and vendors
- Resolve cost discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information
- Collect and organize data and track changes, pay attention to details
- Adhere to company processes and policies
- Survey conditions of renovation projects and existing sites
Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree from an accredited University in construction management, finance, accounting, or other related field preferred
- Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience required
- Conceptual estimating (design-build) experience a plus
- Bid-build estimating experience a plus
- Ability to perform on-screen takeoff and anticipate missing items
- Ability to handle multiple projects at any given time
- Ability to work in a team or independently after being given instruction
- Very organized
- Strong proficiency in MS Office, including Word and Excel
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Strong math and writing skills
- Comfortable communicating with subcontractors, vendors, and/or clients
- Driver’s License
- Able to walk construction jobsites
