What we need:
Redmond is searching for a motivated and resourceful Human Resources Generalist to support our team in ensuring smooth and efficient business operations. The HR Generalist will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities, and will help with important functions such as staffing, training and development, and compensation and benefits. Redmond views this role as a provider of a high quality internal service to ensure engagement and compliance across the company.

This role report directly to the Executive team, and require a high level of autonomy, responsibility, and trust. This role will be critical to Redmond's growth and presents an opportunity to lead a department and shape corporate policy near and long-term. Candidates should be highly motivated, disciplined, and ready to take on a high impact role.

Role Objectives:

  • Provide a best in class HR service to the Redmond team 
    Develop trusted relationships across the team, and be the go-to resource for HR questions, interpersonal relationship management, professional development, and growth
  • Develop and execute personnel procedures and policies, and provide guidance and interpretation for business operations
  • Develop HR objectives and systems, including metrics, queries, and ongoing reports for company requirements
  • Administer benefits, compensation, and employee performance programs
  • Suggest new procedures and policies for improving employee experiences and retention
  • Ensure compliance with local and national regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and procedures when necessary

Responsibilities:

  • Be a resource for interpersonal conflict and escalate to leadership as needed
  • Proactively train and develop training ongoing sessions on management best practices and workplace culture
    Prepare paperwork and schedules for smooth new-hire onboarding process, coordinating with cross-functional departments to deliver an exceptional new hire experience
  • Handle all administrative tasks for onboarding, new-hire orientations, and exit interviews, including data entry in human resources information systems (HRIS) and audits for accuracy and compliance
  • Work with IT and Finance to set up new hires and decommission exits
  • Provide a dedicated and effective HR advisory service to employees that covers absence and health issues, conduct and capability, grievances, organizational change, and all other employee-relations matters
  • Assist in the communication, interpretation, and upkeep of employee handbook, employee directory, and organizational chart, and contribute to policy development
  • Manage all recruitment and hiring processes (with a recruiter budget for specific roles, and team lead participation for interviewing)
  • Work with subject matter experts in house and across the industry to develop and implement robust training programs for new hires and ongoing professional development
  • Develop and implement strategy for retention, growth, and performance with leadership team
  • Manage payroll, benefits, and compliance programs - run both weekly and semi-monthly payroll and associated benefit deposits, and audit payroll and benefit programs regularly for accuracy
  • Manage expense reporting systems (with support from Finance Manager)
  • Manage all HR related 3rd party relationships (COBRA/HSA servicer, insurance brokers and carriers, etc.)
  • Leverage market relationships to drive cost savings & maximize value for benefit plans and 3rd party services
  • Manage annual open enrollment process
  • Assist leadership in strategic planning for personnel growth, reductions, performance improvement, etc
  • Oversee performance review processes (Q1 & Q3 360 reviews) to ensure portals are set up accurately and team leads are meeting deadlines & assist with comp/performance issues as they arise
  • Crisis management with leadership for any HR related incidents
  • Manage cultural and social events for employees

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Breadth and depth of skills to function as a true generalist 
  • Experience in the construction, architecture, or engineering industry
  • Highly responsive and agile when prioritizing issues and problem solving
  • Highly organized and deadline oriented with the ability to manage multiple requests from Executives
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ethics, and cultural awareness
  • Aptitude for problem-solving and thorough knowledge of HR procedures and policies
  • Advanced knowledge of HRIS and ability to learn new technical systems, when necessary
  • Bachelor’s degree (or relevant certifications) in human resources, business, or related field
  • Proven success working in an HR department
  • Resourceful mindset and strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of national laws and regulations related to employment 
  • Knowledge of Illinois and Colorado state laws and ability to research and interpret state & local regulation as required

    Note: This role is Chicago-based but supports Redmond's Denver office and requires occasional travel to that office.
