What are the responsibilities and job description for the Regulatory Analyst I position at Regulated Companies?
Under general supervision, coordinate the department’s filings and related activities for all aspects of utility, gas, and electric regulatory functions, in accordance with federal and state regulations to enable the completion and timely submittal of reports and filings required by various industry and regulatory agencies. Responsible for placing safety as #1 priority in day to day work routine for self and others.
Job responsibilities specific to this position include providing administrative support for the department's filings from initial filing through final approval. Creating and maintaining both tariff sheets and rate books. Maintaining department documents and records, in both hard copy and electronic form. Preparing periodic reports and filings as assigned. Monitoring department filings and distributing information to appropriate department personnel. Assisting both internal and external customers regarding the department's various filings. Oversee the regulatory section of the Company's website.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a working knowledge of business principles and theory at a level normally acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, engineering, or related field.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must take all measures necessary to protect networks, devices, programs and data from cyber-attack, damage or unauthorized access.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States, no sponsorships considered.
Subject to pre-employment drug testing and background checks.
May be required to maintain a valid driver’s license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting, economics, finance, engineering or related field preferred.
Paralegal experience preferred.
Natural gas industry experience preferred.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts research and analysis for a broad range of projects. Gathers, validates and enters data and runs reports on various computer systems.
Using independent judgment prepares regulatory filings, letters, reports, spreadsheets and other material.
Assists with the preparation of rate case components which may include revenue requirement, weather normalization, cost of service data and marginal and embedded class cost of service studies, and rate design for internal use and for filing with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and various state regulatory commissions (collectively, Commissions). Analyze and interpret company financial and statistical data used in all studies.
Assists in the development of rate strategies and the design that will optimize company profitability.
Assists with the preparation and presentation of expert testimony relating to rate design, cost of service and related areas, before the Commissions and legislative bodies.
Performs other tasks and special projects as assigned.
