Job Summary
The Construction Operations Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of construction planning, execution, and administration. This role will lead construction teams, develop operational strategies, and ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards. The successful candidate will act as the company’s representative in Florida, providing on-the-ground insights and fostering relationships with key stakeholders, including city officials, project partners, and investors.
Key Responsibilities:
Administration & Planning
- Identify opportunities and establish relationships with potential partners.
- Act as a liaison with city officials and local authorities, ensuring compliance with Florida building codes and regulations.
- Provide on-the-ground insights and act as the company’s representative in Florida, offering critical knowledge for successful construction in the region.
- Collaborate with executive leadership (CEO, President) to review budgets, WIP statements, and department performance.
- Monitor industry trends, labor markets, technologies, and competition to forecast workforce capacity shortages and surpluses.
Estimating & Sales
- Review pre-construction estimates for accuracy and variance.
- Control labor and material costs through effective staffing, compensation, and purchasing practices.
- Collaborate with accounting to ensure timely invoicing and project closure.
Service & Support
- Stay updated on trade-specific developments and innovations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a formal quality assurance and improvement program.
- Ensure regulatory and quality standards compliance.
- Coordinate fleet maintenance and inspections.
People & Safety
- Work with HR to recruit, onboard, and develop construction staff.
- Oversee, direct, and support construction management teams.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide clear expectations to staff.
- Foster a culture of safety and accountability.
Project & Construction Oversight
- Develop and enforce construction budgets and cost controls.
- Manage bids, contracts, and performance of project partners, including general contractors and architects.
- Oversee project entitlements, permits, and coordinate with local jurisdictions.
- Monitor project schedules and costs to ensure on-time, on-budget completion.
- Lead construction meetings, align deadlines, and oversee deliverables.
- Support bid solicitations and assist with market analyses for property acquisitions.
- Manage construction administration processes and reports.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with investors, local governments, and industry partners.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- Experience: 7-10 years in construction management or a similar leadership role.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership and team-building skills.
- Advanced understanding of construction project management, budgeting, and permitting.
- Proficient in financial statements, including WIP’s.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local construction regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.
- Other Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license.
