Position Overview :
The Import Agent at Reliable Aftermarket Parts (RAP) is responsible for vetting, arranging and managing all inbound shipments from overseas vendors.
Must have experience in similar role and excellent Excel, analytical, problem solving and communication skills and keen attention to detail.
Essential Job Functions :
- Manage daily import activities and communication with forwarding agent, vendors and warehouse.
- Monitor POs to ensure goods ship on time and follow-up with purchaser and vendors when needed.
- Work with forwarding agent to arrange container pickup, approve freight quotes and obtain import documents for customs.
- Resolve discrepancies between commercial invoices and POs to authorize vendor payments.
- Manage inbound shipment process in NetSuite and monitor shipments to ensure goods arrive on time.
- Compile and manage part HTS codes to submit to forwarder.
- Resolve quality, lead-time, packaging and other purchasing related issues with supplier.
- Manage and collect credits for vendor shortages, damages and mis-ships.
- Build and maintain positive, long-term supplier relations and improve communication via participation quarterly Top-to-Top meetings with top vendors.
- Update, analyze and recap weekly purchasing reports.
- Maintain vendor, item and shipment records in online system.
- Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with members of all cross-functional areas (Sales, eComm, IT, Warehouse, Finance and Wholesale).
- Assist Director and other Buyers with specials projects, reporting and tasks as needed.
Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree in purchasing, business, finance, retail management, supply chain or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in similar role required.
- Additional 2 years’ experience in buyer / purchasing role preferred.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Highly self-motivated.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong time-management, multi-tasking and organizational skills.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with suppliers and all levels of employees.
- Proven negotiation strategies and results.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills, proficient in other Office applications and the ability to become proficient in any systems used at RAP.

Job location : Hybrid (40-60% remote)
Schedule :
Monday to Friday 7am-4pm
