Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Specialist to join our team. This role is essential in providing high-quality care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities. As a Specialist, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our clients through personalized care and support.
Duties
- Planning activities in the community or at home that are unique to the person’s preferences and interests. The sky's the limit with this one! IHS Specialists model creative thinking and problem solving skills to support individuals in finding hobbies, passions, and meaningful activities to engage in.
- Monitor and record vital signs, ensuring the health and safety of clients at all times.
- You have the dedication to provide culturally competent services to uphold each individual’s way of life, preferences, and daily choices.
- Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, Meal planning, preparation, and execution.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients, ensuring all areas are tidy and free from hazards.
- You are willing to transport clients in your own vehicle (individuals may have walkers, wheelchairs, or other medical equipment) when deemed necessary.
- Reliable Quality Care LLC reimburses mileage for client transportation.
- Encouraging health and wellness through utilizing a gym membership twice per week for regular exercise.
- This position involves driving. There is no “home-base” for IHS Specialists, this is a community-based role. Employees are compensated for drivetime between worksite locations.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in caregiving or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
- Must pass the Minnesota Department of Human Services Background Study.
- Must complete all required training when starting and annually.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Compassionate attitude towards clients, demonstrating patience and understanding in all interactions.
- Valid Driver’s License, Full coverage insurance, Reliable vehicle.
- Willing to drive an approximately 30-mile radius. Transporting clients into the community.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in caregiving practices.
- Must be very organized, detail orientated, self-starter. Able to complete paperwork and follow instructions in a timely manner.
