Description
We are seeking a Quality Control Inspector to join our team. The Quality Control (QC) Inspector in a gear manufacturing facility is responsible for ensuring that all gears and related components meet strict quality standards, specifications, and industry regulations. Position starts at $22.00 per hour.
Essential Functions
- Inspection of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products using precision measuring tools and specialized inspection equipment.
- Works closely with production, engineering, and management to identify defects, maintain compliance, and drive continuous improvement in quality processes.
- Use a variety of precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, CMMs) to assess production dimensions and tolerances.
- Perform visual inspections to detect defects or non-conformities and document findings.
- Review and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate product measurements.
- Assist in troubelshooting quality issues and work with the production team to resolve them promptly.
- Support continous improvement initiatives by providing feedback and insights from inspections.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification in quality control, machining, or a related field preferred.
- 3 years of experience in a quality inspection role within a gear manufacturing or precision machining environment.
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, CMMs, etc.).
- Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Familiarity with gear-specific standards helpful.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and process sheets.
- Knowledge of CNC machining, heat treatment processes, and material properties is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25lbs.
- Manual dexterity and visual acuity to inspect small, precise components.
- Comfortable working in a factory setting with exposure to noise, heat, and machining operations.
