What are the responsibilities and job description for the Child Care Aide II position at RENO-SPARKS INDIAN COLONY?
Position Summary:
The Child Care Aide II will be responsible for the general supervision and management of children ranging in age from infant through 6th grade.
Duties:
- Plan, supervise the early childhood education curriculum. Work with Child Care Supervisor and to gear the program to meet the needs of individual children with concern for their interests, handicaps, special talents, individual style or culture teachings and pace of individual learning.
- Treat each child with dignity and respect in accordance with Head Start and Tribal protocols.
- Provide a safe and comfortable learning environment for the children in the child care facility.
- Assume an equal share of the housekeeping responsibilities with staff.
- Attend meetings, participating in recommended training programs, courses, and other avenues of professional growth relative to child development.
- Implement a clear communication process with all parents of children enrolled in the program.
- Responsible for providing on-site confidential family assessments to family referred by Social Services or other provider.
- Plans, organizes, and trains tribal members and others on their rights concerning Indian Child Welfare cat (ICWA).
- Prepares and submits written reports and attends regular scheduled staff meetings.
- Co-manages the CACFP program and kitchen staff with Child Care Supervisor.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have a high school diploma or a GED.
- Must have a valid Nevada Driver’s License without limitations, sanctions and able to provide a clean DMV report for insurance purposes.
- Two (2) years’ experience in working in an early childhood development program or similar experience.
- Must be professionally prepared as an instructor for young children, especially in the field of early childhood education or development.
- Demonstrated ability to be sensitive and mature when interacting with both children and adults.
- Must be able to pass a background test.
- Must pass a recent TB test.
- Must have or be able to obtain CPR and First Aide certification.
- Must obtain and maintain a Food Handler’s Certificate each year.
- Must satisfactorily pass an annual physical examination.
- Indian preference applies.
PLEASE NOTE: Hiring preference will be given to qualified tribal members of Reno-Sparks Indian Colony followed by members of other federally recognized tribes. Must pass and comply with the HR Policy 164.905- PL101.630. The Reno-Sparks Indian Colony requires a designated candidate to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background check, and confirmation of professional references and certifications.

Pay: $16.49 - $20.28 per hour
