What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head of Product Sourcing (Lighting & Hardware) position at Residence Supply?
So... What’s Residence Supply?
We’re Residence Supply, a lighting brand born at the intersection of old-world craftsmanship and next-gen ecommerce.
We make premium lighting products—think heavy brass, hand-blown glass, and artisan-grade switches.
Our customers are interior designers, boutique hotels, and design-minded homeowners who care about every detail, from the material finish to the speed of delivery. To keep leveling up, we’re building out a global supply chain that’s as beautiful and intentional as the products we sell.
That’s where you come in.
The Mission
- Build the supply chain of the future for a brand that’s already turning heads.
- You’ll be in charge of sourcing premium products from China, Turkey, India, Mexico, and South America—then working closely with our product and design teams to bring those ideas to life.
- You’ll streamline our purchasing ops, improve unit economics, oversee assistants in PH and CN, and develop inventory systems that support fast shipping without bloated storage.
- Basically, you’ll architect the back-end engine that makes our customer experience feel like magic.
The Responsibilities
- Source and onboard new global vendors (China, Turkey, India, Mexico, South America)
- Collaborate with our design team to drive product development, ensuring materials, finishes, and specs align with the brand’s aesthetic and quality bar
- Ensure new products are uploaded with accurate specs and visuals by coordinating with our product team
- Lead and optimize our current purchasing operations—negotiation, cost analysis, supplier comms, reordering
- Work closely with the product and design team to launch new SKUs with flawless deliverables
- Manage our PH and CN sourcing assistants to handle local tasks, sample reviews, and factory coordination
- Hire and oversee new agents in target sourcing countries
- Build and run our inventory stocking replenishment system—supporting fast shipping, minimal overstock, and clean forecasting
- Create supplier performance scorecards, quality control systems, and escalation protocols
- Act as the CEO’s right-hand in all sourcing, purchasing, and inventory strategy decisions
The Ideal Candidate
You’re not a purchasing manager. You’re a builder—an ops architect who sees a spreadsheet full of chaos and gets excited.
You’ve worked inside a fast-moving ecommerce brand (maybe even built your own), know how to build systems and hire global agents, and you don’t flinch at managing suppliers across four time zones.
You understand the assignment: products that feel premium, ship fast, and scale cleanly.
You think in workflows, Notion boards, and negotiation leverage. You’re fast, clear, and fiercely detail-oriented.
You’re probably:
- From a DTC, Amazon FBA, or ecommerce-native background
- Fluent in sourcing terms: EXW, DDP, MOQ, freight optimization
- Obsessive about quality control, packaging, lead times, and margin
- A world-class communicator
- Highly independent and hungry for ownership
The Tech Stack (Apps Tools)
- Sourcing: Alibaba, 1688, Made-in-China, Ankorstore, Faire, local agents
- Comms: Slack, Zoom, WeChat, WhatsApp, Gmail
- Project Mgmt: Notion, Airtable, Asana
- Data: Google Sheets (conditional formatting is your love language)
- Nice to have: Shopify, Klaviyo, Gorgias familiarity
