JOB SUMMARY:
The Director of Social Services will provide leadership, supervision, and direction to social service staff to meet the objectives of each patient's interdisciplinary treatment plan in accordance with established facility’s policies and procedures. The Director will serve as a member of the facility’s Administrative Team.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees the overall management, monitoring, and evaluation of social services.
- Is a part of the social services team, assists social services in all tasks daily when needed.
- Supports social staff by ensuring all workload is distributed/contributed to equally and fill gaps in coverage when needed.
- Work closely and collaborate with the administrative team to ensure that standard of excellence is maintained.
- Oversees all development and implementation of individualized treatment plans, ensuring they are correct and up to date.
- Plans and implements appropriate groups.
- Ensure all staff members are appropriately trained.
- Maintains cooperative working relationships and effective communication with local law enforcement, county personnel, community resources, and other outside agencies as appropriate.
- Coordinates care with outpatient providers and resources to ensure a safe and effective aftercare plan.
- Provides therapeutic intervention in crisis situations.
- Identify and provide any needed trainings for staff.
- Complete schedule and ensure coverage are met for social services unit.
- Complete reviews for social services staff.
- Complete 5250 holds.
- Participates in the interviewing and hiring of new staff.
- Attends administrative and treatment team meetings.
- Work with Clinical Director to ensure all policies and procedures are being met.
- Other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of mental disorders and their treatment as well as psychosocial and family issues pertaining to developmental delays and mental illnesses
- Effective communication including initiating individual and group discussion, listening, clarifying, and facilitating interaction among group members
- Writing skills to effectively document assessments and interactions with patients
- Understanding of goal setting techniques and safety planning
- High degree of knowledge and strategies for dealing with a variety of people from varying educational and socio-cultural backgrounds.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Master's degree in behavioral science
- Must possess a current LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker)
- At least 2 years of post-master's experience in a mental health setting
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $43.00 - $50.00 per hour
