What are the responsibilities and job description for the Insurance Billing Specialist/ AR specialist position at Retina Associates of Indiana?
- Be able to read EOBs and post to patient accounts accurately
- Serve as primary contact for appealing denials for unpaid claims.
- Must know how to appeal claims for Anthem, Medicare and other large payors including Medicaid of Indiana.
- Candidate should know how to submit claims on Medicaid of Indiana portal or the willingness to learn Medicaid claims submissions should be there.
- Must be familiar with checking insurance eligibility and several different insurance websites.
- Stay informed and research information for annual payor updates in changes in policies.
- Serve as primary resource to patients regarding patient balances, statements and questions.
- Verify that all insurance requirements have been met.
- Understanding of insurance requirements for eligibility, common denial reasons is a must.
- Knowledge of registration, verification, pre-certification, and scheduling procedures. Understanding of payer processes (website, fax, contact number) to submit appropriate clinical documentation. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook. Basic knowledge of Medical Terminology and Medical Coding. Understanding of insurance billing procedures and practices. Familiar with Electronic Health Systems/Electronic records
