Project Manager (Automation & Controls)
The Project Manager will lead automation projects across a variety of industries, managing PLC, HMI, and SCADA solutions while providing hands-on technical leadership. This role involves direct interaction with customers and overseeing a team of engineers to ensure projects meet technical, financial, and business goals. A successful Project Manager will have strong problem-solving skills, business acumen, and leadership capabilities to drive project success and secure repeat business.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Team Management

Oversee the scope, schedule, and budget for automation projects ranging from $250K to $5M .

Ensure profitability while maintaining customer satisfaction and project deliverables.

Lead and mentor a team of engineers/technicians in delivering high-quality automation solutions.

Work directly with customers to identify requirements, develop specifications, and oversee design, implementation, testing, commissioning, and qualification.
Technical Engineering

Develop control system designs for industrial processes and machinery.

Write procedural documentation for instrumentation and hardware configurations.

Create operational philosophies and sequences of operations for control system implementation.

Design electrical schematics, including power distribution, control panels, and NEC compliance.

Program PLC ladder logic and function blocks (Rockwell, Siemens, Modicon, etc.).

Configure SCADA applications (Cimplicity, Wonderware, Intellution, Rockwell).

Work with VFDs, servos, electronic overloads, and networking solutions.

Utilize SQL databases, scripting, and historian systems for data acquisition.

Navigate and modify AutoCAD and 3D models for system design.
Business & Sales Development

Identify new sales opportunities and propose scope changes with clear justifications.

Build relationships across targeted industries to generate business growth.

Assist in the development of sales quotations and project proposals.
Qualifications & Experience
✔ Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Control, Mechanical, Chemical, or Computer Science preferred). PMP certification is a plus.
