Job Description:
- This position will manage and coordinate the work of the Application Engineering staff. Additionally, functioning as a primary technical resource for the field sales force and is responsible for actively driving and managing the technical and commercial evaluation of the inquiry to order process.
- Working in conjunction with the sales and engineering team as the key technical advisor and product advocate, the Application Engineering team lead must be able to identify and provide reliable solutions for all technical and commercial issues to assure complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process.
Responsibilities:
- Receive and review customer specifications for technical and commercial requirements for new equipment projects while developing and aligning proposals for centrifugal turbo-expanders, turbo-compressors, and related equipment and services to generate competitive technical and commercial proposals to the customer to successfully secure new and repeat business opportunities.
- Perform technical review of customer/project specifications and identify and rationalize requirements outside of our standard scope/design to ensure the product/proposal package is designed to meet agreed-upon specifications.
- Perform calculations and product selections to most efficiently and effectively meet the customer's process needs.
- In conjunction with the Commercial / Sales team, pursue and lead technical and commercial proposal / design concept communications and meetings with the customer in order to steer preference and acceptance of proposed solutions, while seeking out Voice of the Customer feedback in order to better refine or modify the proposal / design concept offerings.
- Lead and drive the internal proposal process throughout the sales phase between inside and outside sales personnel and representatives, project management, design engineering, aftermarket, and supply chain. Requires interaction and leadership with other internal and external partners concerning all aspects of the proposal process including engineering, quality, logistics, scheduling, spare parts, field services, legal, and sub suppliers to ensure proposals account for all aspects of internal costs, resources, scheduling, commercial, and legal needs.
- Accountable for performing applications engineering and sales activities to meet applicable KPIs such as bookings value, bookings margins, OTD, and proposal pipeline in line with company goals.
- Promote and practice proper safety procedures and personal protection equipment
- Maintain expert level of product knowledge and application.
- Articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users.
- Provide design and specification development support to consultants, integrators, and distributors.
- Respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs
- Listen, understand, and convey customer requirements.
- Perform technical/ product training for salespeople, estimators, and engineers at targeted accounts.
- Assist in the design and development of new products and tools necessary to make target accounts comfortable and successful at selling.
- Maintain accurate records of target accounts, opportunities, quotes, projects, contacts, and correspondence in company approved databases and Salesforce.
- Resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner that is consistent with the company mission, values, and financial objectives.
- Maintain professional business relationships within target accounts.
- Provide status of ongoing projects and future projects.
- Identify customer's needs and sales opportunities to help future growth.

Requirements:
- Experience in centrifugal air/gas turbo-expander/turbo-compressor / turboexpander-gear-generator or other rotating equipment
- 5 years of experience in bidding/proposal preparation and the ability to read and understand bid/proposal specifications, both from a technical perspective and commercial perspective, as related to Contractual Terms and Conditions
- Competent in reading technical drawings including P&IDs
- Experience with API & ASME codes
- Expertise in Gas Dynamics / Auxiliary System Design / Control & Electrical or Mechanical Design a big plus
- Knowledge of computer software: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project
- Experience in the Oil & Gas, Air Separation and Power Generation required
- Experience in Risk Assessment analysis a plus
- Strong communication skills to interface with internal personnel and external customers
- Self starter who can work independently without close supervision
Education:
- BS in Engineering or another related field.
