What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructor position at Rhode Island Construction Training Academy?
The Rhode Island Construction Training Academy is seeking a skilled Carpentry Teacher to instruct students in carpentry, woodworking, and finishing. This role prepares students for careers in residential and commercial construction through hands-on training and classroom instruction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach students the fundamentals of the carpentry trade. (see attached flyer for what each year covers).
- Deliver instruction using approved curriculum on carpentry techniques, materials, and safety.
- Foster craftsmanship, teamwork, and a strong work ethic in students.
- Evaluate student progress and maintain a safe learning environment.
Qualifications:
- Hands-on carpentry experience and/or formal education or certification in the trade.
- Ability to read and teach blueprint interpretation and construction techniques.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to mentor.
- No teaching experience required—just a passion for sharing knowledge.
Schedule:
- Two nights per week, 6:00–9:00 PM (Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday).
