MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree in Community Health, Health Education or a health-related field and one to three years of public health education, or equivalent. Valid driver’s license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous work experience in Public Health. Previous work experience related to substance use prevention. Bilingual: (English/Spanish and/or English/Somali). HOURS: 32 – 40 hours per week (.8 FTE – 1.0 FTE). Typical work hours between approximately 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., 4-5 days per week, Monday – Friday. Occasional weekend or evening hours.
Performs community health education and community engagement related to local substance use prevention grants, serving in a grant coordinator role. Identifies, promotes and improves the health of the public by providing a variety of health promotion and education activities in community settings. Serves a culturally diverse population. |
- Coordinates and implements community-based health promotion strategies. Strategies will be grant specific and will focus on primary prevention of substance use/misuse.
- Helps develop public health strategies related to opiate settlement funds with community partners.
- Serves as Rice County Public Health Cannabis and Substance Use Prevention project coordinator.
- Serves as active member of Rice County Opiate Response Council.
- Convenes community groups and conducts public presentations about substance use prevention.
- Helps create community strategies to address cannabis and substance use prevention in Rice County.
- Performs other duties as required.
