Position Summary
The Grant Coordinator is responsible for the development, submission, administration, and reporting of all federal, state and private foundation grant funding proposals that advance the mission of Richland Community College and assist in the implementation of the institution's long and short-term goals and objectives.
This position will coordinate the grant efforts across the College, including proposal development, submission and monitoring grants to ensure compliance with regulatory and funding agency requirements. Familiarity with federal and state governmental reporting requirements and regulations, including understanding federal codes is preferred.
The Grants Coordinator works in close coordination with faculty, administration, and staff; local, state and federal governmental offices; business and industry representatives; educational and community partners.
Essential Functions
Develop and implement strategies to obtain public and private grant funding that support innovative programs, projects and initiatives at Richland Community College.
Develop and administer the annual schedule of grants to ensure that grant projects tie to the strategic plan and college priorities, and work closely with appropriate departments to ensure that college resources are available to meet any matching requirements.
Research external funding sources such as government agencies, private foundations, and corporations to identify prospects which the college can apply for support of identified activities and priorities.
Develop and cultivate relationships with funding organizations and agencies, obtain information regarding grant opportunities, solicit feedback from reviews, and assist with follow-up for funded projects. Provide good stewardship with funding organizations and agencies.
Coordinate all grant applications for the college and maintain final editing authority over all competitive proposals prepared and submitted by the college. Organize and ensure all related documents required for grant submissions are included.
Develop and maintain communication system with faculty and staff regarding funding opportunities including priorities of the funding agency, submission deadlines, and other key information.
Monitor progress toward completions of all performance measures of grant projects and provide continuous support to directors of grant-funded projects to meet the terms and expectations of the grant award. Prepare and submit required reports and maintain all grant records and documentation.
Develop and maintain processes and procedures for grant requests/development. Create standards and outcome measures for evaluating annual goals of competitive and non-competitive grant proposals and secured external funding.
Collaborate and work closely with the Business Office for grant budget development and financial reporting to ensure budgetary accuracy, responsibility and allocation for all grant awards.
Ensure grant managers are meeting program requirements as outlined by grant.
Required Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Associate's degree plus 3-5 years' experience (or Bachelor's degree plus 1-3 years' experience) in the development and administration of state and federally funded grants, as well as with private foundations and corporations. Computer competency and excellent planning, organization, and administration skills are required. Experience in higher education environment preferred.

This position requires effective research and analytical skills as well as demonstrated leadership and organizational skills. Must exercise a high degree of independent judgment, initiative, confidentiality, organization, communication and problem-solving skills. Must maintain effective communication systems, written and oral, with College departments, faculty, staff, administrators, business and industry personnel.
Applicant must have a basic understanding of the Grant Accountability and Transparency Act (GATA).
Familiarity with federal and state governmental reporting requirements and regulations, including understanding federal codes is preferred. Experience in a higher education setting is preferred.
