Job Overview
We are seeking an Assistant Supervisor to assist our Construction Supervisor and project team. This role requires excellent communication skills, attention to detail, the ability to learn quickly and apply new knowledge immediately, and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in custom residential construction and journey-level carpentry skills. Less experienced candidates are welcome to apply - hourly wage is dependent on the skills and experience the candidate brings. This position will provide development opportunities toward a Project Supervisor or Project Manager role.
Duties
- Support the activities of the Project Supervisor
- Assist in supervising and coordinating all phases of the construction project, ensuring adherence to timelines and quality standards, under direction of and in collaboration with Project Supervisor
- Assist coordinating and scheduling project staffing with other Project Managers and Supervisors within the company
- Communicate with team members and stakeholders via in-person and phone conversations, Slack, texts, and email communication
- Utilize tools such as Smartsheets for task lists and task-specific communication and document management
- Assist in timesheet review and correction for supervised employees
- Assist in materials procurement, making decisions based on timeliness, logistics and pricing
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor compliance with safety regulations and quality standards and perform periodic safety meetings. Report injuries and document tracking for any site accidents
- Photograph and upload construction job site photos for team communication and record keeping
- Work with labor and/or carpentry crews on days when there is not a need for supervision duties
Qualifications
- Desire and ability to learn new systems, techniques, and information and to apply that in one's work right away
- Ability to get along with varied personalities and adapt one's communication style to promote successful outcomes in unique situations
- Familiarity with construction management software such as Smartsheet is preferred.
- Strong understanding of safety practices
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
- Must have a clean driving record
