The Role : We are looking for a self-motivated, knowledgeable designer with at least 5 years of experience who thrives in a collaborative, detail-oriented environment and aligns with Rigby Wood Interior Design’s values of hard work, client service, flexibility, and forward thinking design excellence. In this role, you’ll work side-by-side with the firm's Principal on luxury projects. You’ll attend client meetings with the Principal, draft plans and make initial selections, and be a key part of the design team from inception to completion. This position works in-office Monday through Thursday, with Fridays off (or option to work-from-home on Fridays).

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Take projects from concept to completion, serving as contact for clients and all necessary trades
  • Collaborate with the principal to shape each project’s vision
  • Attend client meetings, taking notes & owning follow ups
  • Create and deliver compelling client presentations with creative sourcing and advanced visuals
  • Guide the design team, evaluating options to meet client goals
  • Work seamlessly with clients, designers, architects, contractors, and artisans on multiple projects
  • Responsible for material selection, custom furniture design, furniture sourcing, budgets, and timelines
  • Provide exceptional customer service
  • Produce comprehensive project documentation, including full drawing sets, specifications, schedules, and construction admin

Skills & Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in interior or architectural design
  • Degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or Architecture highly preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCad and Microsoft Suite is required
  • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and SketchUp are preferred; Studio webware is a plus
  • Passion for design with a sharp eye for detail
  • Polished, confident presenter with strong communication skills
  • Skilled in all design phases : concept, schematics, documentation, procurement, and installation
  • Flexible and adaptable team player with excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience working with high-profile clients
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects
  • Proactive, resourceful problem-solver with a "can-do" attitude
  • Dependable, with strong integrity and follow-through
  • Physically capable of lifting 40 lbs
  • Reliable transportation for travel to Arlington, McLean, DC, and Bethesda
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. and available for in-person work in Arlington, VA
  • Hours and Compensation :

  • In-office, Monday–Thursday, 9 AM–4 PM; Fridays off (or working from home)
