RINA is currently recruiting for a IDOT Construction Technician to join its office in Chicago, IL within the North America Infrastructure & Mobility Division.
Mission
Location: within commutable distance of Chicago, IL
Compensation Range: 57K - 68K annually
The IDOT Construction Engineer will observe, monitor, verify and record Contractor’s work daily for compliance with IDOT’s quality and schedule objectives, as defined in the construction contract documents. In addition to observing the work, the Field Supervisor will pro-actively address field issues as they arise by bringing them to the attention of the IDOT Program Manager for resolution in a timely manner. The Field Supervisor will prepare daily field logs recording the activities completed and quality and safety issues.
Key Accountabilities
- Under limited supervision, monitor Contractor work, verify Contractor’s activities conform with intended work.
- Coordinate with IDOT District 1, Bureau of Maintenance daily.
- Notify the IDOT PM of deviations from planned schedule of activities.
- Prepare daily logs, maintain files, and document all safety incidents, etc. as directed by the IDOT Project Manager.
- Perform inspections of Contractor’s work for completion and quality on project sites.
- Confer with IDOT, the Contractor, and other Consultants concerning work performed in the field.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with experience in civil construction or roadway construction or High School Diploma/GED or equivalent with 5 years’ experience will be considered in lieu of education.
- Ability to read and understand contract documents.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to write technical field reports.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
- Familiarity with electronic file management systems.
- Experience with IDOT construction projects a plus.
- Valid driver’s license
- Personal vehicle may be needed to visit work sites.
