Job Summary
Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) seeks three temporary Pre-College Program Assistants to support Continuing Education's Pre-College program. The Pre-College program offers rising high school juniors and seniors the chance to experience life as a RISD undergrad, while following college-level curriculum with day-long studio classes, critiques and projects. The Pre-College Summer Office will house Program Assistants alongside Graduate Student Engagement Specialists to support the daily operations and support of the student experience outside the classroom.
The Pre-College Program Assistants will understand and address the needs of the Pre-College community and assist with the daily operation and procedures of the Summer Office. It is critical that the persons in this role function with the understanding that attendees are minors; which often requires interactions with parents, campus partners and instructors.

Essential Functions:
- Help to track attendance and academic warnings
- Take notes to students for Pre-College meetings, CAPS appointments, Health Services appointments, Conduct meetings, or meetings with Residence Life
- Chaperone students to the hospital or to urgent care when needed
- Escort students to CAPS, Health Services, or Conduct meetings
- Serve as backup to overnight and weekend on-call rotation, as needed
- Answer phone calls and questions related to the program
- Assist with student events such as daily pop-ups, weekend trips, Artist Ball and final exhibitions.
- Additional tasks as assigned by the Student Engagement Specialists and Associate Director, Student & Operational Success (CYP).
Required Knowledge/Skills/Experience
- A proven ability to interact with members of the community representing diverse ages, backgrounds, and interests
- Prior experience working with high school aged students in a classroom, recreational or summer camp setting
- Strong interpersonal, research, and verbal communication skills.
- Creativity, flexibility, broad cultural experiences, and personal warmth are essential.
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of art/design experience in an educational setting.
