Qualifications
- Medical Office Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
- Vital Signs Experience: 1 year (Preferred)
- EMR Systems: 1 year (Preferred)
- Certified Medical Assistant (Preferred)
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Escort patients from waiting area to exam room
- Take and record vitals and appropriate meaningful use information and populate into patient record in EHR
- Pre-populate medications, allergies and medical/surgical/family history in EHR during each patient encounter
- Reconcile medications and allergies during each patient encounter
- Prepare exam rooms and assist physician and/or nursing staff with hematology/oncology infusions
- Coordinate patient flow with provider, front desk and secretary, inform patients of any delays
- Prepare and label specimens with required clinical information and ensure timely pick up/delivery to appropriate department for processing
- Clean and maintain exam rooms and utility areas
- Remove and appropriately dispose of expired medical supplies and materials
- Validate proper referrals and/or prior authorizations are in place for office appointments
- Scan chart notes and other medical information in appropriate folder within EHR.
- Ensure that all patient visits have billing documentation that is submitted to the billing department, including but not limited to all relevant and accurate patient demographic and insurance information
- Fax or email consult or office notes to referring MDs, as needed
