What are the responsibilities and job description for the College Counselor and Testing Coordinator position at Rivermont Collegiate?
Overview of Responsibilities: To counsel upper school students and their parents in regard to the entire college selection, application, and admission process. To coordinate ACT/SAT testing.
Responsibilities:
1. Designs, coordinates, implements, and monitors a comprehensive career and college guidance program for all Upper School students and their families.
2. Serves as primary counselor to approximately the Upper School students, providing individualized support to students and families in all aspects of the college search and application process, including writing knowledgeable and specific letters of recommendation.
3. Understands international student admissions process.
4. Collects, analyzes, and shares data with relevant administrators and academic departments in support of student growth and understanding the higher education landscape.
5. Supports faculty in teacher recommendation writing, encouraging student enrichment opportunities, and advising on scheduling matters.
6. Presents to the Board of Trustees and administration annually and as requested.
7. Supervises the processing of transcript and document requests for the college application process.
8. Works closely with the registrar and SIS staff for the selection of classes for Upper School students that meet the requirements for selective college admissions.
9. Evaluates, selects, and implements technological supports related to the college search and application process (Scoir, Common App, CollegeBoard, etc.) and demonstrates proficiency in their use.
10. Oversees the coordination and execution of the program and calendar of standardized testing for Upper School students, including scheduling test dates, registering students, discussing test preparation, test administration, fees, accommodations, and providing pre and post-test counseling.
11. Represents Rivermont Collegiate at professional conferences and to colleges through visits to college campuses and fostering relationships with admissions officers.
12. Designs and conducts college counseling meetings, individual and small group seminars, and evening programs in all areas of college counseling, as needed.
13. Reviews transcripts for incoming students at the request of the Admissions Office.
14. Serves as a DSO (Designated School Official) and transfers I-20 records of graduating international seniors.
15. Serves as the PSAT 9, 10, NMSQT testing administrator.
16. Serves as the AP Coordinator.
17. Serves as the AP Audit Coordinator.
18. Serves as the SSD Coordinator for the CollegeBoard exams.
19. Serves as the NAIA and NCAA liaison.
20. Completes other tasks as deemed appropriate by the Upper School Administration.
