Description
Rivier University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Biology. Reporting to the Dean of Arts and Sciences and in collaboration with the Dean of Nursing and Health Professions, the Assistant Professor of Biology is responsible for developing and maintaining expertise in the biological sciences discipline and integrating that learning into the curriculum and classroom.
Duties and Responsibilities
This position is responsible for providing instruction in Human Biology, Microbiology, Microbiology Lab, General Biology, General Biology Lab I, Genetics and Genetics Lab. The position includes teaching, academic advisement, and supporting undergraduate research.
Typical Qualifications
- An earned doctorate in a biological science or health profession
- All candidates should have experience teaching biology at the university level and a demonstrated ability and enthusiasm to teach a broad range of undergraduate biology courses.
- A commitment to teaching excellence in an undergraduate, liberal arts program.
- Desire to mentor undergraduate students in their course work, research, and career goals.
- Knowledge of the field with a record of scholarship and a willingness to conduct research in an undergraduate setting. Preference will be given to those with an active research program and / or relevant experience in industry.
