Job Summary:
As a Landscape Installation Technician 1, you'll embark on a journey of learning and growth in the field of landscape construction. Your key responsibilities involve acquiring foundational knowledge in basic landscape construction techniques, planting practices, and distinguishing between hardscape and softscape installation projects. In addition, you will learn the essentials of site management practices, documentation, and safety compliance. This entry-level position provides a solid foundation for building expertise in landscape installation while contributing to the successful execution of various projects.
Key Responsibilities:
· Basic Landscape Construction Techniques:
o Learn and apply fundamental landscape construction techniques, including grading, soil preparation, and basic installation of landscape elements.
· Basic Planting Techniques:
o Acquire knowledge and skills in basic planting practices, understanding soil composition, proper planting depth, and post-planting care.
· Distinguishing Between Hardscape and Softscape Projects:
o Gain an understanding of the differences between hardscape and softscape installation projects, recognizing the unique requirements and materials associated with each.
· Basic Site Management Practices:
o Learn site management fundamentals, including organization, layout, and coordination of materials and equipment for efficient project execution.
· Training on Heavy Equipment:
o Initiate training on heavy equipment, such as skid loaders, front-end loaders, landscape trucks, Dingos, and other relevant machinery.
o Master the safe and effective operation of equipment to enhance project efficiency.
· Documentation:
o Assist in the documentation of project details, including plant selections, materials used, and any changes made during installation.
o Learn to maintain accurate records for project tracking and client communication.
· Safety Compliance:
o Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure working environment for yourself and the team.
o Participate in safety training sessions and contribute to the creation of a safety-conscious work culture.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent.
· Clean criminal record.
· Strong interest in horticulture and landscaping.
· Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and practices.
· Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic.
· Excellent communication skills.
· Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
· Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (if required for the role).

Requirements for Advancement:
· Complete at least one season (or the equivalent of one full season) of shadowing a Master Installer from both softscape and hardscape installation teams.
· Complete a 30, 60, and 90-day review with the Recruiter and Production Manager.
· Master basic landscape installation knowledge including, but not limited to:
o Basic site management practices
o Complete understanding of site safety measures
o Basic landscape construction techniques
o Basic landscape plant installation techniques
o Basic proficiency on all heavy machinery used by the landscape department
o Begin studying for your CDL endorsement
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.60 - $26.00 per hour
