To help facilitate our expanding business, RMS Energy is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant to manage and support accounting functions related to fixed assets, prepaid expenses, asset utilization, third-party commissions, accounts receivable, and the financial statement audit. The role will also involve supporting the company travel site, outstanding bonds, business insurance management, and Dun & Bradstreet account management. This position requires a strong understanding of asset accounting, financial reporting, and compliance with company policies.
Responsibilities:
- Fixed Asset Management:
- Record, track, and maintain accurate fixed asset records, including trucks, property, and equipment.
- Keep accurate records on work-in-process (WIP) assets.
- Ensure proper depreciation schedules and asset disposal processes.
- Monthly fixed asset and WIP reconciliation and reporting
- Operating and Financing Lease Accounting:
- Record, track, and maintain accurate lease calculation files for vehicle, equipment, and property leases.
- Monitor the right use of company assets to optimize performance and lifespan.
- Record monthly lease entries and reconcile related general ledger accounts.
- Prepaid Expense Accounting:
- Accurately record and manage prepaid expenses, ensuring proper amortization schedules.
- Reconcile prepaid accounts and ensure accurate expense recognition.
- Third-Party Commissions:
- Calculate and process third-party commissions accurately and timely.
- Ensure commissions are aligned with contractual agreements and company policies.
- Accounts Receivable (AR):
- Monitor company AR on a weekly basis
- Create and distribute past due AR report to the Operations team for customer follow-up
- Finance Support Activities:
- Manage and track expenses related to the company’s Engine account, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance with company travel policies.
- Support and manage outstanding bonds, ensuring proper accounting and reporting.
- Support the management and reconciliation of business insurance policies, ensuring accurate premium tracking and reporting.
- Assist in maintaining proper insurance documentation and managing related expenses
- Maintain the company’s Dun & Bradstreet account to ensure accurate credit reporting and update as necessary.
- Research, pay, and record company toll charges
- General Accounting Support:
- Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Assist in preparing for and supporting financial audits by providing necessary documentation, reconciliations, and reports.
- Ensure compliance with audit requirements and provide timely responses to auditor inquiries.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- 2 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on fixed assets. lease accounting and financial reporting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and asset accounting principles.
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.

- Valid and current driver’s license with clean driving record.
