What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Intern position at Road Commission for Oakland County?
Job Responsibilities:
- Learn the specifics of condemnation law, applying the general knowledge from academic studies
- Learn the specifics of SAD law, county road law, and other relevant statutory provisions (FOIA, Open Meetings Act, etc.) and how they apply to agency’s work
- Assist legal department team members with various projects as they arise
- Assist in contract review and drafting
- Research issues as directed
- Participate in agency internship program activities including an end of the summer presentation
Skills Required:
- Available to work 20-25 hours a week during RCOC standard hours of operation (Monday-Friday, 9:30-2:30)
- The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Strong accuracy and attention to detail
- Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook proficiency required
Education/Certifications:
- Second year law school student that has completed Property Law and Contract Law classes preferred
- Legally eligible to work in the United States
- Valid Driver’s License
