Housing Coordinator – Roadway
The Housing Coordinator at Roadway plays a key role in supporting individuals experiencing housing instability by assisting them in finding and maintaining stable housing. This position works closely with clients, case managers, landlords, and community resources to facilitate housing placement, ensure ongoing housing stability, and provide client-centered support in accordance with Housing Stabilization Services (HSS) policies and procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Housing Transition Services
- Assist clients in identifying suitable housing options based on their needs and eligibility.
- Develop and implement person-centered housing transition plans.
- Provide education on tenant rights, responsibilities, and lease agreements.
- Support clients in completing housing applications and navigating the rental process.
- Coordinate with landlords to facilitate housing placements and ensure positive landlord-tenant relationships.
- Assist clients in securing rental assistance, deposits, and other necessary supports.
Housing Sustaining Services
- Support clients in maintaining stable housing by addressing barriers such as budgeting, lease compliance, and conflict resolution.
- Develop and regularly update individualized housing support and crisis plans.
- Provide guidance on accessing community resources such as food assistance, mental health services, and transportation.
- Mediate between tenants and landlords to prevent evictions and address concerns proactively.
- Educate clients on home maintenance, budgeting, and independent living skills.
Collaboration & Documentation
- Maintain regular contact with clients, providing in-person and remote support as needed.
- Coordinate with case managers, social workers, and other service providers to ensure comprehensive support.
- Document all client interactions, progress, and service delivery according to Roadway and DHS policies.
- Ensure compliance with Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) Housing Stabilization Services regulations.
Community Engagement & Advocacy
- Build and maintain relationships with landlords, property management companies, and community housing resources.
- Advocate for policies and programs that support housing stability for vulnerable populations.
- Participate in local housing coalitions, meetings, and training opportunities.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, psychology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience:
- Prior experience in housing services, case management, or social services preferred.
- Knowledge of housing resources, tenant rights, and fair housing laws.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Competence in using electronic case management systems and documentation tools.
- Certifications:
- Must complete DHS Housing Stabilization Services training within 30 days of hire.
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation preferred.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Regular travel within the community to meet clients, attend housing appointments, and engage with landlords.
- Hybrid work environment with a mix of in-office, field, and remote support options.
- Flexible scheduling may be required, including occasional evening or weekend meetings based on client needs.
