Job Description:
Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Trusts and Estates Attorney to join their team in New York. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estate planning, estate and trust administration, and related tax matters. This role involves working closely with high-net-worth individuals, families, and fiduciaries to provide tailored solutions that meet their financial and personal objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Estate Planning: Draft, review, and implement estate planning documents, including wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and health care proxies.
• Trust & Estate Administration: Oversee the administration of estates and trusts, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Tax Planning & Compliance: Advise clients on estate, gift, and income tax strategies; prepare or coordinate the preparation of related filings.
• Client Consultation: Provide personalized counsel to clients, guiding them through complex estate planning and administration processes.
• Litigation Support: Collaborate with litigation attorneys in disputes involving estates, trusts, and fiduciaries.
• Regulatory Compliance: Stay current with changes in federal and New York state laws affecting trusts and estates.
Qualifications:
• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the New York State Bar in good standing.
• 5 years of experience in trusts and estates law, with a focus on estate planning and administration.
• In-depth knowledge of New York estate laws and federal tax regulations.
• Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to handle complex financial and legal matters.
• Proficiency in estate planning software and legal research tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
• LL.M. in Taxation or Estate Planning.
• Experience working with high-net-worth clients and cross-border estate planning.
• Familiarity with charitable planning and family business succession.
