The Medical Biller oversees calculating and collecting payments for medical procedures and services. Their work includes updating patient data, developing payment plans, and preparing invoices. They work to ensure that patients are billed quickly and accurately.
Job Duties:
- Insurance Claims Processing: Prepare and submit medical insurance claims accurately and in a timely manner to ensure timely reimbursement.
- Patient Billing: Generate and send invoices to patients for their portion of medical bills, and assist with resolving billing inquiries.
- Coding and Documentation: Review medical records and assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes for billing purposes, ensuring compliance with coding guidelines.
- Payment Posting: Record payments received from insurance companies and patients, and reconcile accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Follow-Up: Follow up on outstanding insurance claims and unpaid patient invoices, addressing any discrepancies or denials.
- Compliance: Stay up-to-date with healthcare billing regulations, including HIPAA, and ensure billing practices adhere to legal and ethical standards.
