We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Portfolio Accountant to manage the financial operations and reporting for a diverse portfolio of real estate assets. In this role, you will oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate has an in-depth understanding of portfolio accounting, strong technical skills, and a commitment to delivering accurate and timely financial information.
Key Responsibilities
- Portfolio Oversight: Take ownership of the full-cycle accounting process for a portfolio of properties, including preparation of journal entries, general ledger reconciliations, and accruals.
- Financial Reporting: Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for the assigned portfolio, adhering to strict deadlines. Provide variance analysis and insights to assist management in driving business decisions.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Collaborate with property managers and finance teams to create and monitor budgets, forecasts, and performance metrics across the real estate portfolio.
- Lease and Tenant Accounting: Ensure accuracy of rent rolls, tenant billings, and related lease accounts. Manage reconciliation of tenant CAM (Common Area Maintenance) charges, operating expenses, and other recoveries.
- Compliance and Audit Support: Ensure adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and tax compliance requirements. Serve as the primary point of contact for internal and external auditors, providing all necessary documentation and explanations.
- Revenue Recognition: Ensure revenue from leases, sales, or other sources is recorded in compliance with applicable accounting standards.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency in accounting workflows and systems. Contribute to the evaluation and implementation of ERP or other accounting systems upgrades.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff accountants, fostering their professional growth and development.
Preferred Experience
- Experience managing accounting for multi-property real estate portfolios.
- Deep understanding of real estate industries, including construction, healthcare, financial services, or commercial leasing (Source: FA, SG25 TREND 6).
- Proven ability to lead projects related to system upgrades or financial process enhancements.
Salary : $110,000 - $125,000
