The Assistant Director provides leadership, collaborates, and supports the continuing development and implementation of academic assessment initiatives that systematically improve student learning outcomes and academic program quality. As demands for assessment and quality improvement continue to increase in higher education, the Assistant Director will provide a high level of expertise to assist the Director with the planning, training and oversight of the assessment of RIT's General Education Student Learning Outcomes, Individual Degree Program Student Learning Outcomes, and Administrative Unit Effectiveness objectives. The Assistant Director will provide leadership and assistance in any of these areas as needed by the office.
The Assistant Director consults with faculty from all RIT locations to develop effective forms of assessment plans of RIT's outcomes. This position works with various campus-wide offices to collect, analyze, and disseminate data aligned with RIT's learning outcomes and ensures that all outcomes are assessed based on the prescribed schedule. Critical to this position is the focus on using the results and tracking the university's recommendations and next steps to ensure a focus on improving student learning. A key function will be analyzing assessment data and disseminating the results. In addition, the Assistant Director will provide advisement and support for degree program chairs, directors, and faculty.

Academic Assessment
- Provide leadership, mentoring, and support to faculty for assessment planning, analysis, and utilization of assessment data

Advise programs in all phases of program assessment including:
- Developing tools, templates, guides, and rubrics for faculty
- Assisting with the design or refinement of student learning outcomes
- Guiding the development of curriculum maps
- Facilitating the development or refinement of outcomes assessment plans
- Review new program assessment plans
- Develop methods to support faculty in improving assessment practices (tools, resources, retreats)
- Assist with general education assessment plan and initiatives for RIT main and international locations
- Assist with campus-wide effort to assess RITs strategic goals related to student learning and continuous program improvement
- Assist with RIT's Annual Progress Report - data analysis and dissemination of data (data is provided for Academic Program Analysis, Provost's Academic Quality Dashboard)
- Advance a culture of continuous improvement by providing expertise to faculty in the utilization of assessment data to make improvements to courses and programs
- Develop and lead workshops to provide opportunities and support for faculty and administrators through best practices in assessment of student learning
- Develop assessment resources for the campus community
- Work with existing governance structures (Curriculum Committees) and designated committees as needed to provide support for assessment of student learning outcomes.
- Work with and serve as a liaison to campus-offices and programs as needed to support the assessment of student learning (e.g., Cooperative Experiences, Teaching and Learning Services, etc.)
- Serve as a member of Student Learning Outcomes Assessment Committee, University Assessment Council, and General Education Assessment Advisory Board
- Coordinate data collection for outcomes assessment at RIT and in all international locations
- Track, archive, and analyze assessment data
- Analyze university-wide data sources (NSSE, Coop Evaluations, Alumni Survey) aligned to RIT Student Learning Outcomes
- Develop assessment reports and presentations
- Promote communication of assessment results to stakeholders, internal and external
- Based on annual findings and recommendations, work with colleges and programs to enhance processes and guide improvements.
- Assist with Institutional Effectiveness Progress Report and annual reporting
- Provide analysis of institutional data
- Assist with data collection and analysis for RIT's Essential Outcomes
- Conduct research to support Academic Affairs priorities and initiatives
- Assist with Academic Affairs and University-wide Educational Effectiveness initiatives
