Job Summary
The Events Manager for the Golisano College of Computing & Information Sciences is responsible for coordinating and executing all internal and external events for the college.
Job Responsibilities:
The Events Manager is responsible for coordinating all internal and external events for the college. Reporting directly to the Assistant Dean for Academic Services, the individual manages communications and logistics relating to College portions of University-wide events (Commencement, Imagine RIT, Open Houses, Orientation, etc.).
They serve on multiple University-level coordinating committees and are critical in communicating information between these committees and College stakeholders.
In addition to University-wide events, the Events Manager leads the development and execution of events to enhance student engagement across the college. With the goal of building community between students and an affinity to Golisano College, the Events Manager will work closely with student experience staff in the academic departments to design occasional college-wide student events. The Events Manager also plays a critical role on the FirstByte Committee whose goal is to improve student retention through communications and events that build a sense of belonging, normalize asking for help, and provide resources to students. The Events Manager is responsible for coordinating and managing logistics for FirstByte events.
The Events Manager also leads planning for various faculty & staff events hosted by the college as well as special events such as Dean's Lecture Series speakers.
This position requires both independent judgment and decision making to ensure that events are professionally executed yet engaging for the target audience. They must also understand and ensure compliance with all RIT policies and procedures, track individual event expenses, and manage the GCCIS Events procurement card.
Please note: the Events Manager is required to work occasional nights and weekends throughout the academic year in order to oversee events.
This role is primarily on-campus, with a maximum of one day per week working remotely, at the supervisor's discretion.
