Objective and Purpose:
The receptionist is the “face of Rogue Retreat” to the community and represents the organization to people experiencing homelessness who are looking for services, agencies who work with our population, funders, government agencies, policy makers and the general public. Whether on the phone or in person, it is important that the receptionist presents themselves as a professional to the general public while still remaining “relatable” to our current and potential future participants.
A good receptionist needs excellent communication skills. Their daily duties include dealing with people face to face, over the telephone, via email or letters. A successful receptionist needs to be well organized and will often be required to multi-task and stay calm under pressure. They may sometimes be required to deal with complaints or people in crisis.
Standard Required Qualifications
1. Must have High School Diploma or equivalent.
2. Must have a current valid driver’s license.
3. If you have a substance use disorder (addiction) you must have 2 years clean since your last use.
Specific Required Qualifications
1. This is an entry level position with no experience requirement.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exhibit good written and verbal communications skills.
- Exhibit discipline for personal time management and record keeping.
- Be able to carry out responsibilities with little or no supervision.
- Exhibit the ability to work well with other staff and volunteers.
Essential Functions:
- Represent Rogue Retreat in a professional and compassionate manner, maintaining an awareness of Rogue Retreat's organizational goals and embodying the spirit of our nonprofit mission within the office and the community.
- Maximize enrollment processing by using standard office equipment, i.e.: fax machine, phone and postage meter.
- Staff the front desk during all regular business hours.
- Answer the phone and direct calls to appropriate staff.
- Collect and distribute mail to all appropriate staff.
- Keep front office area neat and tidy.
- Maintain stock of applications, brochures and front office forms.
- Perform other projects and tasks as assigned.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.70 per hour
