Asheville Humane Society is seeking a passionate and driven Director of Fundraising & Engagement to lead our fundraising, community partnerships, and marketing efforts. In this key role, you’ll help expand our impact in Asheville and Buncombe County by building strong relationships with donors, securing new supporters, and overseeing the growth of our Fundraising & Engagement Team.
This position works closely with the Executive Director and leadership team, contributing to AHS’s financial health and strategic goals. Key Responsibilities
- Serve as an enthusiastic ambassador for AHS, helping donors and potential donors connect with opportunities that resonate with both their interests and AHS’s mission.
- Act as a proactive and courageous front-line solicitor, identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift and planned giving prospects in a thoughtful and strategic manner.
- Build and maintain relationships with donors by developing and implementing donor-centric strategies for acquisition, cultivation, and retention.
- Develop and execute annual Fundraising & Engagement plans to expand AHS’s donor base and audience, ensuring continued support, awareness, engagement, and education.
- Manage a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects.
- Support the Executive Director’s development activities with donors, prospects, and at events.
- Stay informed about changes in federal and state tax laws relevant to major gift prospects.
- Lead, supervise, and inspire AHS’s Fundraising & Engagement Team.
- Uphold development policies and procedures, adhering to the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Code of Ethics.
- Ensure proper documentation in Raiser’s Edge to track and report relationship management, donations, and solicitations.
- Develop a strong understanding of AHS’s programs and services, including Community Solutions, Community Sheltering Center, Behavior, Foster, Adoptions, Animal Care, and Medical, to collaborate effectively with peers and ensure excellent communication across departments.
- Assist with special projects and other duties as needed.
Requirements
The compensation for the Director of Fundraising & Engagement starts at $82,000 annually. AHS is pleased to offer a competitive and comprehensive benefits package to full-time employees, which includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, a Simple IRA plan with up to a 3% company match, 18 days of PTO in the first year, paid holidays, pet prescription discounts, and more!
