Compensation: $145,000 - $185,000 (Based on experience)
Job Description:
A premier engineering firm is seeking an experienced Highway (Civil) Department Manager to lead the growth and development of the Highway Design team. This leadership role focuses on driving project execution and supporting other Project Managers across a variety of transportation projects. You will work closely with clients and project teams throughout the project life cycle to ensure seamless delivery and client satisfaction. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage transportation projects from concept through execution, ensuring quality, financial excellence, and client satisfaction.
- Work closely with regional and office leadership to advise on project approach, scope, cost, and schedule.
- Collaborate with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish project needs and resolve design and permitting issues.
- Mentor and train junior engineers and design staff, fostering a culture of growth and development within the team.
- Identify opportunities for innovative solutions and strategic teaming partnerships.
- Oversee and manage the preparation of proposals and presentations for clients and stakeholders.
Required Qualifications:
- 20 years of experience in Highway Design.
- B.S. in Civil Engineering (a Master’s degree can substitute for 2 years of experience).
- P.E. in New Jersey (New York State license is beneficial).
- In-depth knowledge of NJDOT and NJTA processes and procedures.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proposal writing, presentation skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to mentor and train design staff while fostering collaboration across departments.
