Job Description
***Only qualified SQL Database Administrator candidates located in the Richmond, VA area to be considered due to the position requiring an onsite presence***
Desired Certifications:
• Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent database administrator certifications
Required Skills:
• Experience as a SQL DBA (5 Years)
• In-depth knowledge of TDE (Transparent Database Encryption) setup and management (3 Years)
• Familiarity with database security concepts (e.g., user authentication, encryption, auditing) (3 Years)
• Experience with backup and recovery technologies for databases (3 Years)
• Understanding of database performance tuning and capacity planning (3 Years)
• Proficient in PowerShell, or equivalent scripting languages for automation (3 Years)
• Hands-on experience with database monitoring tools
About the role:
• Deploy TDE across all non-Cardinal databases to ensure encryption at rest
• Configure and maintain TDE settings, keys, and certificates in line with security policies
• Ensure minimal disruption during the encryption process while maintaining system availability
• Implement and enforce best practices for database administration, focusing on performance, security, and availability
• Optimize database performance through efficient configuration, monitoring, and tuning
• Maintain database security by managing access controls, auditing, and monitoring for suspicious activity
• Address and resolve audit findings related to database security and operations, specifically those raised in audits
• Assist in creating and updating documentation to ensure continuous compliance with audit standards
This will be a Short-Term role. Contract ends on June 30, 2025 - NO possibility of extension due to budget
