Primary Purpose :
Direct and manage the district's Student Services Department by overseeing a comprehensive range of student support functions to ensure student well-being, safety, and success. Responsibilities include but are not limited to : managing district-wide discipline processes and procedures, including DAEP; addressing parent complaints, student grievances, and disciplinary concerns; overseeing student transfers, both internal and external; coordinating crisis management efforts, including threat assessments, safety and security protocols, and compliance with safety regulations; overseeing student organizations and extra-curricular activities to enhance student engagement; monitoring nursing and health programs to support student well-being; leading district-wide initiatives for safety compliance and emergency preparedness; establishing and maintaining relationships with community partners and nonprofit organizations; and providing ongoing training and workshops for parents and staff to foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive educational environment.
Qualifications :
Education / Certification :
Master's degree in education administration required.
Valid Texas administrative certification required.
Special Knowledge / Skills :
Knowledge of federal; and state education law
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Ability to coordinate district function
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Ability to interpret data
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Conflict resolution / mediation skills
Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience :
Three years successful experience as campus principal
Major Responsibilities and Duties :
Discipline Management
- Oversee and manage the district's Discipline Management Plan.
- Review, develop and / or revise the Student Handbook and Student Code of Conduct each year.
- Provide training to campus administrators and other staff on discipline law, policies, and procedures.
- Oversee the DAEP process including grievances and appeals.
- Develop intervention strategies for at-risk students.
- Seek ways to impart a restorative and rehabilitative approach to student conduct.
