Summary

The Senior Copywriter transforms compelling and imaginative concepts into written reality. Taste, intelligence, and a detailed eye are critical. Candidates should have excellent writing skills, be a smart strategic thinker with the ability to conceptually generate ideas, and partner seamlessly with an art director (and other creatives) across a wide range of work, including broadcast, print, digital, design, motion graphics, social and immersive experiences. The Senior Copywriter possesses the ability to work with clients in different industries, adeptly presenting copy and concepts. The Senior Copywriter will have the opportunity to learn and show leadership skills. They will see through to execution, in partnership with production, strategy, account management and with close mentorship by the Creative Director. The Senior Copywriter is equally meticulous when it comes to effective art direction. They value the importance of an art director and understand the importance of that partnership to find inspiration and deliver innovation. The Senior Copywriter is familiar with award winning and inspiring work in the industry. The ideal candidate is versatile in both offline and digital environments and is a proponent of AI.

Comfortable and confident in their writing, and willing to help less senior members of staff to improve their copy skills, senior copywriters are leading figures in a creative team and are always ready to rise to any challenging brief with an eye for detail, and a drive to deliver the sharpest, most provocative copy. Their best ideas are not just creatively fresh but strategically sound and on brand. This role requires complete self-assurance, as the senior copywriter is in charge of influencing consumers by delivering a clear message, as well as using their initiative to seek out new trends and incorporate them into campaigns effectively.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Independent thinking, drive, energy and enthusiasm — a team player who takes the initiative
  • Produce exceptional work for clients and RP3, both creatively and effectively, in multiple media types including, but not limited to TV, video, print, digital, outdoor, social and collateral
  • Provide conceptual thinking and possess the capability to flesh ideas out across a range of executions. Be comfortable writing in multiple styles and for multiple formats.
  • Write compelling and grammatically clean copy including long-form website needs as well as effective headlines, taglines, and calls to action.
  • Present ideas clearly, confidently, and inspiringly both internally and to clients.
  • Partner with art directors and creative staff to concept and solve problems in bold, fresh, innovative ways
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting mutually agreed deadlines
  • Check copy generated by team members and offer feedback when necessary.
  • Develop creative strategies that are forward-thinking and in-line with current media trends.
  • Work with account managers and planners to ensure creative concepts, tactics, and copy tone are on brand and strategically sound.

Position/Hours Worked

This is a full-time position. This position regularly requires long hours and occasional weekend work.

Requirements:

Additional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 6 years of experience with an advertising company
  • A strong portfolio that demonstrates written expertise, originality, innovation, problem-solving, and personal expression
  • Work examples should prove you’ve solved business problems. (While we expect you to write beautifully, your work must also be effective at solving a client’s business problems.)
  • Detail oriented, able to work under pressure
  • Effective oral, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills — a team player, positive and innovative thinker.
  • Highly motivated and a high level of initiative — ability to work independently when needed, to support the agency’s creative goals and the client’s business objectives.

Salary Range: $90,000 - 120,000 Annual DOE
