Railcar Maintenance Coordinator Role
The Railcar Maintenance Coordinator plays a crucial role in ensuring timely and efficient coordination of railcar maintenance, repairs, and cleaning. This position is responsible for enabling railcar performance and utilization by facilitating compliance with AAR/DOT/FRA regulations and other applicable laws.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with clients to establish annual maintenance requirements and programs
- Work within predetermined maintenance forecasts and collaborate with clients and car owners to ensure accurate and complete shopping instructions
- Select repair shops and mobile repair units based on price, location, type of repair, and availability
- Maintain shop status reports and distribute as requested
- Establish relationships with clients, repair shops, and car owners
- Collect required documents related to mechanical and regulatory changes
- Expedite established annual maintenance requirements to meet client deadlines
- Participate in client-required meetings as needed
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in rail operations or logistics coordination
- Bachelor's degree in logistics supply chain management preferred
- System savvy (prior ERP experience or Rail TMS experience highly preferred)
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
Bonus Qualification: prior knowledge/experience in railcar repair and maintenance programs
